About the Lecture:
The emergence of Generative AI (GAI) is a transformative force in education and the workplace. Unlike Discriminative AI, GAI tools can generate new content. Understanding the underlying mechanism of GAI and prompt engineering techniques is essential in using these tools properly. Guided by Bloom's taxonomy, we can apply GAI to gain higher-level learning experiences in self-directed learning in the educational setting.
The transformer architecture is the foundation of many GAI tools that often hallucinate. Such unpredictability introduces an element of randomness that may yield creative content. Leveraging this creative feature may support entrepreneurship and innovation. We will illustrate how to use a semi-structured approach to translating startup methods to prompt templates to assist the application of these methods. We will further explore the impacts of AI and GAI in the future workplace.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Minder Chen is full Professor in the School of Business and Economics at California State University Channel Islands. His research and teaching interests include business reengineering, collaboration, applications of generative AI, and data analytics. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Electronic Commerce Research.
