A Few Thoughts On Technology Acceptance Research

Abstract::Technology acceptance has enjoyed a long, rich research history and is perhaps the most prolific research area in the Information Systems (IS) field. In this talk, we will briefly review the history of technology acceptance research and discuss the new challenges presented by the ever-evolving social and technical environment. We will also share a few thoughts on how to address these challenges. Most importantly, we call for new theoretical perspectives and in-depth investigations of acceptance of emerging technologies in the changed social environment.

Bio-sketch::Wei Zhang is an associate professor in College of Management, University ofMassachusetts Boston, and is currently visiting School of Management, Fudan University in Shanghai,China. His research interests include knowledge management, technology acceptance, and Information Systems Education. Dr. Zhang has published in journals such as Journal of Association for Information Systems, Social Work, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, and Journal of Information Systems Education. He earned his bachelor’s degree from University of Science and Technology of China, his master’s degree from Renmin University of China, and his doctorate in management information systems from Boston University.
