On the morning of July 17th, the “Generative AI Innovation Competition” was held in Room 512, Lide Building by School of Information Technology at Renmin University of China (RUC), as part of the 2024 International Summer School. Prof. Zhang Xiao, vice dean of School of Information at RUC, attended and delivered the opening speech, while Prof. Minder Chen from California State University Channel Islands, and Associate Prof. Yang Bo from School of Information at RUC attended and acted as judges of the competition.
Zhang Xiao said in his speech that innovation is the core driving force for development in start-ups, and generative AI is exactly the growth point for future enterprises to break through the boundaries. The main purpose of this event is to provide a platform for student teams to showcase creative models combining generative AI technology with viable business models so that students can lay the foundation for the future in-depth development and implementation of innovative ideas through exchanges with experts and each other.
During the event, 7 teams of 37 students from Renmin University of China, Tsinghua University, and the Affiliated High School of Renmin University of China gave presentations on the application of generative AI technology in the fields of fashion (Magic Cube team), healthcare (Care GAI team), information security (Jiajinghua Technology team), psychology (Rhythmic Treatment team), tourism (GAI Challengers team), home (Future Finders team), and education (GAI Venture Service team).
The event was organized in the form of “presentation plus evaluation”, in which the student teams presented their projects in order of registration first, then experts and student teams filled in the evaluation forms, and finally the host team counted the votes to select the teams for each prize. In the end, the GAI Venture Service team won the highest number of votes for its EduProf AI project's complete and comprehensive business planning, technical support as well as user-oriented thinking, and won the first prize, while the Jiajinghua Technology team and Future Finders team won the second prize. Prof. Minder Chen and Prof. Yang Bo presented the awards to the student teams and had further discussions and exchanges with the teams after the meeting.
