演讲主题:Models of Hormone Treatment for Prostate Cancer: Can Mathematical Models Predict the outcomes?

报告摘要:Combining well formulated mathematical models with clinical data, we show that cycling patients on and off intermittent androgen suppression (IAS) treatment not only alleviates most serious side effects but also may postpone the development of the inevitable treatment resistance for some prostate cancer patients. Our models are adapted from proven ecological models that are based on ecological stoichiometric principle which in a nutshell state that the most limiting resource strongly regulate growth, death and evolutionary processes. With our clinical data validated models, clinicians may identify patients that are appropriate for the treatment and estimate the maximum length of treatment for a given patient.

报告摘要:In this talk, we study a reaction-diffusion population model with time delay. We establish a comparison principle for coupled upper/lower solutions and prove the existence/uniqueness result for the model. We then show the global asymptotic behavior of the model.
